Original uniform printed wrappers. The ANSP Proceedings were the foremost zoological journal in the U.S.A., being especially strong in Mollusca and ornithology. Authors in this early volume include, e.g., Lawrence (new Central American birds), Elliot (a new owl), and Cassin; Meehan (botany), Cope (herpetology including turtles, reptiles of California, extinct Cetacea, etc.), Isaac Lea (malacology, mainly Unionidae), H. C. Wood (Myriapoda). Especialy Cope contributed much. Uncut. Wrapper edges a bit soiled, frayed and or/chipped, as usual with uncut copies. A good, complete volume. Rare.
