Two rare papers published as Scientific Survey of Porto Rico and the Virgin Islands, volume IX(1) and IX(2). Both very well-illustrated and dealing with an interesting island-fauna with many endemic species of which many have become extinct in quite recent times. Of great taxonomical and zoogeographical importance. It includes a chapter on the origin of the Puerto Rican mammalian fauna. Both Nissen and Wood record the author's Mammals of America, but not this work. Front wrapper of the first paper detached, otherwise a very good, well-bound copy.
