Contemporary blind pebbled half cloth over marbled boards. Marbled endpapers. In protective transparent sleeve. A well-illustrated work with new taxa. Rare. We never had this work before. Signed by the author on the half title. "Abbé" Jean Nicolas Boulay (1837-1905) was a French clergyman, botanist, palaeontologist and professor at the university of Lille. He was an authority of French mosses and fossil plants. The two smaller plates are "numbered" A and B, and are not mentioned in the title. A few pencilled annotations. Most plates foxed, in particular in the margins; repair to last text leaf, otherwise a good copy. Cat. BM(NH) vol. 1, p. 212. Neither in Nissen nor in Stafleu and Cowan.
