Bonarelli Della Rovere, G. - Filli di Sciro, favole del conte...detto l'aggiunto, accademico intrepido.

Amsterdam & Paris: D. Elsevier & Thomaso Jolly, 1678. 0. Hardcover. 24mo. 168pp. A8-K8, L4. Contemporary mottled calf; hinges cracked in places. Top of spine chipped. With a frontispiece and 6 plates by Sébastien LeClerc. Willems 1542; Copinger 461; Brunet I, 1088; Rahir 1673. In the same genre as Tasso's Aminta (1573) and Guarini's Il Pastor Fido (1590), it differs from the two mentioned and other similar works of the period in that its heroine, Celia, is in love with two shepherds at the same time, which was criticized by the author's contemporaries. Bonarelli had to defend this work in his Discorsi in Difesa del Doppio Amore della sua Celia. The work was extremely popular and reprinted many times during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Good.
