First edition, "second impression," 8vo, pp. [iii]-xvi, 420; frontis portrait, folding map printed in color (one short tear repaired on verso), 7 plates, and a number of illustrations from photographs in the text; covers a bit soiled and spotted, spine darkened, else very good in original pictorial cream cloth. The author, late of the 16th Queen's Lancers, was winner of the Royal Geographic Society's gold medal. The map, published by the RGS, is based on Deasy's excellent surveys.
