It follows the story of a group of west gallery musicians, the Mellstock Parish Choir. Hardy is best known for his novels, 'Far from the Madding Crowd' and 'Jude the Obscure&apos. Previous owner's gift inscription to the front title page dated 1915. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with shelf wear to the edges and bumping to the spine. Spine is darkened. A few light marks to the boards. Offsetting to the free endpapers. Internally, generally firmly bound. One plate is missing. Pages generally bright and clean with some scattered spots and age-toning to the edges. Contemporary ink inscription to the half title page. Very Good . Ill.: Keith Henderson. Very Good .
