London, Not Stated, 1927-30. Cloth. A very scace copy of this work looking at the coat of arms found in the Inner Temple Hall in London, illustrated throughout. A very scarce work. A work showing the coats of arms of the readers at the Inner Temple in London. The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple is a of of the Inns of Courts for barristers and judges in London. The Hall was originally dated from the eighth century, but was in such poor condition that it was demolished in 1868. It was rebuilt in the Gothic style and opened in 1870, with the coats of arms running around the walls of the room. That hall, which is the one described in this work, was destroyed during the Blitz in World War Two, and the new Hall was reopened in 1955. Illustrated throughout. With two booklets loosely inserted; 'Readers and Their Coats of Arms', dated 2nd May 1928. 'A Note Upon the Coats of Arms of Readers in the Hall', dated 19th June 1930. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Some light marks to the boards. A little fading to the spine and boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
