BRATBY, JOHN. - A Series of Letters between John Bratby and Douglas Maxwell.

Hastings. Self-published. 1987. First edition. Paperback. Four letters from Bratby all ms on his sweetcorn decorated writing paper. Two from Maxwell typed, not signed, the first 20th July 1987, addressed via the Royal Academy asking if Bratby recalls an interview he did with Maxwell 20 years earlier in Blackheath and asking after a copy of 'Breakfast and Elevenses'. Brtaby to Maxwell July 23rd, offering to send a signed copy and also asking if Maxwell is intereested in publishing some manuscripts he has. Letter from Bratby 25th August, arranging a meeting. Letter from Maxwell, 11th September 1987, thanking him for the two manuscripts and offering to try and get them published, also thanking Bratby for his offer to paint his portrait. Letter from Brtaby to Maxwell, Sept 15th thanking him for the meal and discussing his home-made furniture. Letter from Bratby to Maxwell, recounting his trip to Florence and Venice how to arrange the portrait sittings. Very Good .
