LUIS DE LEON; TRANSLATED BY ALICE PHILENA HUBBARD, SISTER FELICIA, OF THE ORDER OF ST. ANNE - The Perfect Wife - Translated from the Spanish of Friar Luis de Leon, 1583 (Signed by Translator, Limited & Numbered 394/1000) [La Perfecta Casada]

Denton, Texas, The College Press/Department of Foreign Languages of the Texas State College for Women, 1943. 1943. Hardcover with dust jacket. Hardback, slim octavo, 6 1/4 x 9 1/4 inches, xxxv + 102 pages, VG+ in VG dj (dj will be fitted w/ removable protective mylar sleeve). Book itself quite nice and SIGNED by the Translator top corner front free endpaper: Alice Philena Hubbard, Sister Felicia, of the Order of St. Anne . Translator also authored the Biographical Introduction and the 12-pg Appendix of Notes. First blank page past the front free endpaper contains a neat circa 1990 (?) ballpoint gift inscription in the Spanish Language o/w no other markings in the book. DJ (stark black on white) shows only minor soil, is whole incl no corners clipped, has edge wear only minor, corner wear only a little worse than minor, and lower third of spine a price sticker surface thin (not of much notice w/ no loss of type). DJ back panel note states This is the first translation into English of this famous masterpiece , which is followed by a 2-paragraph blurb by Mr. A.F.G. Bell, the well-known authority on Fray Luis de Leon . (This actually seems to be the only translation into English of this work.). Very Good/Very Good.
