Copyright page states First Edition, but true first would not have the Junior Literary Guild identification. Very early printing as neat "Feb-43" in pencil at top of FFEP. Hardback, small 8vo, VG+ in VG dj (dj in new protective mylar). Bookplate front pastedown, mostly under dj flap, otherwise interior very clean. Illustrated endpapers, hinges fine, sound binding. Top edges publisher's yellow tint. DJ mostly quite clean, with only solid white back panel showing minor surface soil and rubbing. DJ does have uniform mostly light wear to edges and ends including tiny tears, but remains generally very attractive, with very small chip out back panel near top corner + a closed 1/2-inch tear to top edge of front panel. Very Good/Very Good.
