Londinin: Prostat venale apud Hawes, Clarke, & Collins..., 1770. 12mo, 151 x 95 mms., pp. [iv], 249 [250 - 252 adverts], K3 signed K5, contemporary calf, red leather label; some margins closely trimmed, spine a little rubbed, with some loss of gilt, but a very good copy, with the contemporary autograph "George Vanbrugh" on the top margin of the recto of the front free end-paper. Florilegium Poeticum was first published in London in 1744, with further editions in 1751, 1770, 1778, 1789, and indeed it continued to be reprinted in one form or another well into the 19th century, including an edition by George Whittaker in 1835, with notes on prosody and tags in English. The BL online catalogue also lists as an added name for the 1744 first edition one George Whitaker, Master of the Grammar School at Southampton. ESTC N49088 locates only the copy at Pembroke College, Cambridge.
