SCHUBERT ADOLPHE: - The Emperor Napoleon's March Across the Alps .

London Leoni Lee & Coxhead 1845-53. With a truly magnificent full colour front cover portrait of Napoleon, within a gold and red frame, astride his white horse and climbing the Alps . At the head of the portrait the imperial eagle in gold with two tricolour flags below it's open wings and at each corner the Imperial insignia N and the composer titles in blue and gold and though not signed, certainly a wonderful Brandard cover. The composer Adolphe Schubert who worked extensively for this publisher sadly remains obscure. The music publisher Leoni Lee went into partnership with Coxhead in 1845 until 1853 . Folio size with music. Trimmed across the top title and a small waterstain in bottom spine corner neither overly affecting magnificent portrait and cover else Good.
