Ex parliamentary library with their gilt crest on the front cover and incorporated into the spine, no other markings; some dust has crept in around the folding maps causing spotting or browning on facing pages but a rather good and handsome copy. ¶ A not uninteresting miscellany by a former governor and finance minister of India: 21 addresses and papers, 11 on India, most of the others on the "progress of survey and exploration throughout Asia by European and American travellers". Those on political, social and economic subjects include religious missions in the east, political economy of India, forestry, monetary practice, pan Islamism, the Mahrattas, the temperance movement among the British in India.
