Elliot, Henry W. - A Monograph of the Seal-Islands of Alaska.

Washington: Government Printing Office, 1882. First edition. Pp. 175; 2 folding frontispiece color maps, 19 full page plates (line-drawings), some text-figure maps. One quarter black cloth over pressboard pamphlet binder (front original wrapper bound in place), 4to. U.S. Commission of Fish and Fisheries, Special Bulletin no. 178. A rare monograph covering the seals, walruses, sea lions and other marine species (including birds) of islands off the coast of Alaska. Bookplate of Reading Public Museum on the inside of the binder, call number on the front cover, no other ownership marks. Front wrapper is browned and with a few old creases, final page of the text is chipped and frayed around the edges with a small amount to text lost, pages are a little loose along the gutter of the binding; overall a good solid copy of a rare work..
