ABBOTT, G. F.: - THE TALE OF A TOUR IN MACEDONIA.
London, 1903. FIRST EDITION, Edward Arnold, 1903. 8vo, 230 x 145 mm, 9 x 5½ inches, 8 photographic plates and a folding map, pages xi, 343 including index, plus 32 page publisher's catalogue, in the original publisher's blue cloth, blind rules to covers, gilt rules and lettering to spine. Small light stain to lower cover, head and tail of spine, hinges and corners just slightly rubbed, edges slightly foxed, endpapers lightly browned, tissue guard to frontispiece foxed and faintly offset onto title page, occasional pale fox spot, otherwise contents clean and bright. A very good tight copy. The book is an account of part of an expedition to Macedonia carried out by the author, under the auspices of Cambridge University, with a view to studying the folk-lore of that country. It contains some of the explorer's adventures and observations on places, men, women, and the Turkish Government officials to whom the book is dedicated and who, it seems, contributed to his enjoyment of his travels.
