Size (image): 19 x 26.2 cm. This French print of an ice skating scene, demonstrates that also foreigners also enjoyed such scenes, incorporating elements similar to those found in Dutch examples: skaters, sleds, children with a stick to play a kind of golf on mirroring frozen water. People are having fun and laughing at a maid who has dropped her milk jug. Jean Mariette (1660-1742) came from a well-known Parisian family of engravers, booksellers, prints and drawings dealers.
