Washington, The National War Garden Commission, 1918. Wraps. Illustrated wraps. 32 pp. including covers. Illustrations throughout. A work promoting domestic war gardens in the US during World War I, using comics and humor to look at the lighter side of food shortages (!) and gardening. Most of the work reprinted from other newspapers and magazines. The pamphlet was published by the National War Garden Commission, established by Charles Lathrop Pack prior to the US entrance into World War I. The commission hoped that the war garden would counter the negative effects of a large crop failure in 1916, as well as interruptions in shipping due to submarine warfare, and the loss of farmworkers due to enlistment. GOOD condition. Moderate creasing at the corners, with some wrinkling. Minor foxing, soiling and staining to the covers. Upper corner bent and curled. Good .

We charge a media ship rate of $4.50 for the first book plus $2.00 per each additional books. We ship internationally with the US post office. Shipping rates provided upon request based on the country of receipt. Wherever possible, we ship using first class international for $25.00, or the flat rate priority envelope through the US Post which costs $35.00. This is subject to change based on country being shipped to or size of book, so please contact to confirm rate.

Return policy:
Any book may be returned within 30 days of receipt for refund of book price. Buyer responsible for return shipping. For books misdescribed, or for wrong books sent, or any other errors on our part, we will refund book price plus return cost of shipping.
