A novel originally appearing anonymously in 1742, presenting a satirical and slightly erotic tale of the soul of a young man condemned to inhabit a couch or sofa until two virgin lovers consumated their relationship on him. Through this tale, Crebillon satirizes many of the upper class in France at that time. Crebillon had to go into exile for a time due to the appearance of this work. VERY GOOD books in about very good cases. Some soiling to the spine of volume 2. Minor toning. Slipcases and folders very faded along the spines, with minor rubbing.
