Printed wraps. 87 pp. An auction catalog from the noted bookseller and auctioneer, Charles Heartman, featuring a collection of early American almanacs, the first book printed by Hugh Gaine, items on the French and Indian War and Revolutionary War, Manuscripts and ledger accounts relating to Native Americans, signed items by George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, autograph letters relating to the Revolutionary War and Civil War, etc. Charles Heartman was an American bookseller, operating in Vermont and New York before relocating to New Jersey. He was noted for his knowledge and developments in the field of rare books, including African-American material (University of Southern Mississippi Libraries website). GOOD condition. Moderate browning along the extremities, with some offsetting and soiling. Minor curling and scuffing along the extremities. Faint vertical crease present at the center of the book. McKay 7279.
