Disbound pamphlet, lacking any endpapers or wraps that may have been present. 34 pp. LACKING the fold out map at the beginning that was to have been from Walling and Gray's New Topographical Atlas of Ohio. A brief history of Ohio, focusing briefly on the topography before primarily discussing Native American tribes and settlements, as well as providing an abstract of land treaties negotiated with the tribes and discussing various wars and battles fought with the Native Americans over the land. Charles Whittlesey was a 19th century geologist and noted researcher of mound relics, studying both the geology and Native American antiquities in the Upper Mississippi River Valley and around Lake Superior (Wikipedia). GOOD condition. Rectangular brown offsetting to the upper front page, with a short pencil notation at the upper right corner. Some creasing along the extremities. Minor toning. Good .
