A member of the 12th New York Cavalry, Lieutenant Cooper chronicles both the battle near Plymouth, North Carolina that led to his future imprisonment, as well as his time in Confederate prisoner of war camps. Cooper prefaces the account by stating that as an officer, he was not subjected to the harsh treatment and living conditions that most of the prisoners were, but also clarifies that he believes the conditions in the camps were deliberately poor. Includes a list of officers held as prisoners of war in Macon, Georgia in 1864. GOOD condition. General fading and minor soiling to the covers. Minor scuffing, slightly heavier to the rear panel. Cloth frayed and worn at the corners and head and foot of the spine. Interior hinges starting to crack and separate, although still intact. First front endpaper MISSING. Text block clean and solid, with the exception of an ink stain on page 294. Some toning to the paper. Good/No Jacket.

Return policy:
