Various Authors - The North American Review. No. XC. January, 1836

Boston, Charles Bowen, Publisher, 1836. Original Wraps. 264 pp. A review of various publications, offering information on various subjects discussed. Of note in this volume is a several page discussion of Erasmus Darwin, grandfather of Charles Darwin, in which his theories on evolution are dismissed as odd. The review provides a ¾ page synopsis of the theory, although in an effort to criticize his poetry and lack of poetic skill, suggesting that his subject matter is rather mundane. Also included is a fifteen page discussion of anthracite coal trade in Pennsylvania, Arago on comets, etc. In GOOD condition. Minor foxing and soiling to the wraps, with a section of heavy darkening at the upper left front corner. Spine sunned. Moderate foxing to the first and last few pages, with mostly minor scattered foxing throughout. Last names written in pencil next to the various entries in the table of contents. Good .
