He boldly inscribes and signs the title page in black fineline"To / Bill -- / With much / pleasure -- / Marvin Bell / -- 21 April 2001 -- / -- Des Moines --" and adds via rubber stamp two dancing skeleton figures in green ink. Bell (1937-2020) was a prolific poet and academic and served as first Poet Laureate of the state of Iowa. Recipient was Bill Pauly (1942-2021), fellow Iowa poet and academic. .
