Slightest bit of edgewear only, with head of spine delicate and a bit rough. Tight, clean and attractive copy, with bright text block a superb "Near fine." First edition of this author's first book. Fisher (1827-1909) was professor of divinity at Yale (1854-61) and in 1898 served as president of the American Historical Association; he authored quite a few books on theology and history. Surprisingly uncommon, especially in nice condition. .
