VINAY, Ramon (1911-96) - Signature This Chilean operatic tenor with the Metropolitan Opera (1946-61), considered the best ever at singing the role of Otello in the Verdi opera of that name; in 1948 he sang it in the first-ever complete performance of an opera telecast from the Met on television. Bold signature in black ballpoint, heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p. 1983 December 21. Fine. (Vinay also inadvertently signed the card on the verso as well, in blue ballpoint.) With original envelope. Unusual back-to-back pair. Rather uncommon signature. .
