COUNSILMAN, James E. "Doc" (1920-2004) - Signature

One of the greatest swimming coaches of all time and a visionary in the sport, this legend coached the Indiana University swimming team and the 1964 and 1976 U.S. Olympic swim teams -- in which his swimmers won 21 out of 24 gold medals; in 1979 he became the oldest person to swim the English Channel.
