Sampson, Henry - A History of Advertising from the Earliest Times. Illustrated by Anecdotes, Curious Specimens, and Biographical NotesLondon, Chatto & Windus, 1874. First Edition. 0 pp. Hardcover. Very good in cloth-covered boards. This copy has been re-backed (albeit rather clumsily) with red cloth and leather spine labels and the ribbon marker remains in place. A few small spots on the cloth and shelfwear on the foredge. The text is clean and bright. Numerous illustrations with the text and a number of foldout plates, including the handsome color frontispiece by Alfred Concanen of advertising signage in a London railway station and a facsimile of issue number 49 of Domestic Intelligence from December 23, 1679. 616 page + 40-page Chatto & Windus catalogue dated November, 1874. Very Good.
