A hardcover book custom-bound in full black leather with gilt designs and lettering on the front and back covers. Five raised bands on the spine and marbled endpapers. Edges and corners rubbed, and lots of little rub marks on the spine. Tissue plate protectors are not attached. Text unmarked and binding secure. A unique custom-made book containing two works -- EXTRA BINDING AT THE LAKESIDE PRESS (1925) and A ROD FOR THE BACK OF THE BINDER (1928), both originally published by R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, the Lakeside Press. Comes with a typed letter signed by the bookbinder, Fred L. Williams, Jr. explaining the process by which he created this volume for Zack Griffin Haygood of the National Library Bindery of Atlanta.
