First edition of Davis' autobiography. Born in Canada in 1821, Davis enjoyed a lengthy and varied career at sea, working on whaling vessels and having many adventures. Subtitle from title page: "An Autobiography of an Old-Time Seaman Who Has Sailed in Almost Every Capacity Before and Abaft the Mast, in Nearly Every Quarter of the Globe, and Under the Flags of Four of the Principle Maritime Nations." Thoroughly illustrated with black and white engravings, many of which are full-page. Light green floral-patterned endpapers. Very Good .
