Schultz, Julius. - Die Maschinen-Theorie des Lebens.

Göttingen : Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht, 1909. Orig. wrappers. iv, 258 pp. Ticket on spine. Library stamps. Mailorder only - Alleen verzending mogelijk. Book condition : very good. Very good copy of rare first edition of the most important philosophical work of Julius Schultz (1862-1936). Here he developed, influenced by Kant and Vaihinger, in his philosophy of nature a thorough and systematic causal-mechanistic world view. The nucleus of his view is a 'machine theory of life', explaining the phenomena of life with the help of the postulate of biogenensis, unobserved molecules of submicroscopic size, which are not themselves alive, but which built up living forms. Edwards 7:333.
