CHANG, Yi-Yun - Yi-Yun Chang - Coinciding.

Taiwan, W.O.B. Photobook Studio, 2018. 26.5 x 26.5 cm. [156] pp. Illustrated in colour throughout. - Text in English, Chinese and Japanese. - In her series 'Coinciding', Taiwanese photographer Yi-Yun Chang focuses on graffiti throughout the city, on worn-out walls of ancient ruins and abandoned buildings. She photographs these scenes to include an element of life, whether it is real trees working as an extension of painted ones or blending murals of streets perfectly with their surroundings. Despite the title of the book, none of these compositions are 'coincidental'; they all rely on Yi-Yun Chang's brilliant eye and, especially in the context of the series, go beyond mere gimmick. - 'I am a photographer and a painter. I create my work with cameras like painters mastering brushes, with the help of time that has gone by and left its mark on artifacts.' [Introduction]. - Fine copy
