REYNOLDS J. - Geographical Treasury and Royal Cabinet Atlas Containing Fifty Maps of All Countries in the World and a Variety of Useful Geographical Information
J Reynolds, U.K.. Hard Cover. /No Jacket. With Tables of Latitude and Longitude of More Then Twenty Thousand Places Preceded by A Geographical Account of Every nation and State in the Known World. Their respective extents, population, products and powers. Geographical Discoveries. British Colonies &c.&c. The whole compiled from The Best And Most Authorities. iv, 55 pages of text followed by the maps, size 6.5 inches tall by 4 inches, all page edges gilt. Numbering of the plates is eccentric, to say the least. The index calls for numbered 1 to 7, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, then even numbers to 40, then 44 through to 96. There are actually 51 plates, not all of which are maps, but several of the plates contain more than one map. Comparing the detailed index against the plates it appears that the frontispiece actually number '8' rather than '1', plates 9 & 15 are not numbered but appears to be correct. Plate 42, 'Greece' is not called for in the index, but is present. Bound in original gilt lettered and decorated green boards, worn to ends of spine and extreme corners and a little marked and rubbed but otherwise clean and sound, primrose coloured endpapers are not original. Title page (first of two) is marked and stained to edges. Some annotation to blank verso of a couple of maps. Three of the maps 16,18, & 20 (England, Scotland & Ireland) have some underlining to a few place names, other maps are lovely, clean, bright & the whole tightly bound. A remarkable copy of a RARE and Attractive Atlas Shipped Weight: 750gms-1kgm. Category: Antiquarian & Rare Illustrated Atlas Inventory No: 002332.
