Externally: professionally rebacked in leather with elaborate gilt tooling to spine, retaining original publishers decorative boards. Boards rubbed and worn on edges with some wear loss to cloth, but top decorative board is still in very attractive condition. (As previous owner has gone to a lot of expense rebacking volume, so quite surprising original boards were not refurbished completely) Internally: Original decorative wrapper bound in at front, some general light tanning/foxing, but otherwise in remarkably good clean condition. Colour illustrations all bright. Very rare, a beautiful piece of history. Very Good.
