Christie's, 1992 4to., with numerous photographs and facsimiles in the text; original pictorial wrappers, wire-stitched as issued, a fine copy. The sale as a whole comprised 263 lots. Lot 18 is the British Airways return air ticket issued to Sir Neville Chamberlain for his fateful visit to Munich in September 1938. He flew to meet with Hitler on 29 September in order to settle the question of Sudetenland and to receive assurances that Hitler would not invade Czechoslovakia. On his return the next day he was praised for his apparent success which led to his famous 'peace in our time' speech. The ticket (half-page illustration) is a unique survival of a journey the occasion of which sealed the fate of millions.
