A Directorate of Public Relations (Royal Air Force) Monograph, collecting nine short stories concerning men of Bomber Command. Published a month after the first edition. It was the unhappy negotiations surrounding publication of this title and 'How Sleep the Brave' (1943) that led Bates finally to break his relationship with the house of Jonathan Cape.
