Sassoon's first published work in prose and a classic of the genre. The author's name was not printed until the second issue of the second impression. This is the so-called 'second issue' with 'A' on blank leaf preceding half-title, though Keynes states that these 'typographical irregularities have no significance whatever, since they were both printed and published at the same time'.
