Parchment grubby and rubbed, end papers splitting, uncut edges a bit rough, foxing throughout, a few pages uncut, good thus The seventeen volumes of this edition of Booth's huge undertaking were published in 'series': the first was on Poverty, and was volumes 1 to 4; the second was volumes 5 to 9 on Industry; series 3 covered volumes 10 to 16 on Religious Influences, and the final 17th volume was the Summary. The famous 'poverty maps' were published as a fifth unnumbered volume of the first series.
