New Delhi, Ghalib Academy. 1969. A booklet, a pamphlet, a 2-page stapled list and 2 copies of the membership application. The booklet welcoming Dr Hussain, President of India, consists of 6 pages in card stock printed wrappers, 8vo/23cm in size, the 2-page address printed in English, Hindi and Urdu; the 14-page pamphlet Guide to the Art Gallery, Museum and Library is 12mo/17cm in size and includes a list of publications of the newly founded Ghalib Academy; the List of 17 Nobel Laureates, Academicians and Orientalists who had agreed to become Honorary Members of the Academy includes the names of A.J. Arberry, W. Mongomery Watt, Wilfred Cantwell Smith, Alessandro Bausani, Annemarie Schimmel and Philip K. Hitti and is 4to/26.5cm in size; the membership application form is 4to/25cm in size. The occasion for the distribution of these ephemeral materials was the inauguration of the first building of the Academy on Nizamuddin, New Delhi, February 22, 1969. All four items are in very good condition, only the Welcome Address has a little light soil. Mirza Asadu'llah Khan Ghalib (1797-1869) was considered the greatest Indian Muslim poet of the nineteenth century. Scarce.
