Full title The Imperial Map of England and Wales according to the Ordnance Survey with the latest additions; shewing clearly every feature of the country railways and their stations roads canals rivers gentlemen's seats etc. A set of 17 (of 18) folding maps on linen contained in a stiff leather case in the form of a book. Maps drawn by John Bartholomew published by A Fullarton London & Edinburgh circa 1870. Scale four miles to the inch. Average size of each map in the set 74 by 53 cm and most are in eight sections. Those of the English Channel area (maps 16 A B and C) are smaller but to the same scale. Full colour. A very detailed collection of maps which show all railways completed and in progress. Lacks map number 13 London and the south-east. though a facsimile is available. Maps VG slipcase Good to fair with wear and with the top detached. The case is 27.5 by 20 cm and 6 cm deep. Decorated with gold stamping. Images available.
