PARISOT, REV. P. F. - THE REMINISCENCES 0F A TEXAS MISSIONARY

San Antonio, TX, Johnson Bros. Printing Co. 1899, 1st edition, hb. Ill.: photo frontispiece of author. Bound in original brown cloth ruled an embellished in blind. Small 8vo, pp. 227, v. ¶ This copy de-accessioned from the Juniorat de la Ste. Famille, St. Boniface, Manitoba, with trace of label removal from spine, oval library stamp to top right of title page, small stamped number to title page, and similar stamps to front free endpaper - no other markings, and text otherwise clean and tight. Boards rubbed at edges and spine ends. Some soiling and scuffing to cloth. Binding tight. A good copy. Not in Wagner-Camp. See Howes, p. 439. This is the only edition, although it has been offered recently as one of those abominable "print-on-demand" concoctions. Parisot was an Oblate missionary who, amongst other things, served in Eastern Texas during the Civil War, and was sometimes called upon to minister to dying soldiers of both the North and the South. Interesting late 19th century advertisements at the end of the book.
