London, Faber and Faber. 1968, First Edition. Cloth, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Gold title on red cloth boards which are very clean and unmarked with only a touch of wear to base of spine. Internally the front endpaper has been neatly removed (although not an ex library copy) and just some very minor light marks to fore edge else very clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket is VG+ and is complete. Following on from her 'The Garden House' which described a year in the life of a small boy in the New Forest during the 1930's, this book takes up the story of Ralph Oliver in 1941, when he is 12, and describes the holiday he spends with Aunt Lizard at the Spring House, a tiny cottage in Sussex.
