TREASE, GEOFFREY - The Chocolate Boy

London, Heinemann. 1975, First Edition. (ISBN: 0434949132). Hard Cover, 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Ill.: Walker, David. A Near Fine unmarked copy in pictorial boards as dustjacket which is price clipped and protected by a plastic cover. A charming historical story of Sarah and Sam, set in the 18th century, where Sarah, who had been told she was lucky, had been invited to stay at her aunt's house in Nottingham where she was treated to all the advantages that her country life had been unable to supply. She did not feel lucky especially when she was forced into the company of spoilt and spiteful Master George. Sam, meanwhile, was being told he was lucky to be in such a household, as West Indian slaves were all the rage in London, and had been brought to the house to serve the chocolate and act as houseboy. How Sarah and Sam tried to help each other makes a warmhearted story. 4 full colour pictures and 16 line drawings by David Walker. NOT AN EX LIBRARY COPY A1A. Near Fine/Very Good.
