Odd volume IV History 1940-1949) (of 6) of this dutch language edition of Gerretson's collected writings. Very fine copy, WITH dustjacket. Gerretson, co-founder of the Faculty of Indonesian Studies at Utrecht University, was appointed Extraordinary Professor history of the Dutch East Indies in 1928. This faculty, disbanded in 1950 after Indonesia's Independence, was nicknamed the Oil-Faculty, thus referring to Gerretson's connections with Royal Dutch Shell. Full support was given to pure conservative dutch economic interests in Colonial Indonesia, contrary to Leyden University Indonesian studies, of liberal or ethical signature.
