Orig. cloth, title in gilt on front boards, top edge gilt. 63pp. Frontispiece, 22 black/white ills. on 10 plates, 8 plans and terrain-maps printed on thin paper, of which extending, and a helio copy, folded, of Winthrop's original map of 1634, found by me, Henry Waters in England, loosely inserted at very end, list of illustrations, table of contents. Horsford's 'discovery'was not taken too seriously. Some considered his Norsemen theories more of an obsession. However, his work as a chemistry professor at Harvard, and his innovations in teaching chemistry, made him an important figure in the scientific and academic world; and also earned him a lengthy entry in DAB. Printed on large paper, untrimmed. Limited and numbered edition of 250 copies only, None of which are for Sale. Presentation-copy, presented to Rose D..(illegible) Howe, with the affectionate Regards of I.N. Horsford, in orig. Ms. in ink and signed on verso of ti.-p., this copy bears nr. 54. Good copy. (some stains on front panel, some brown spots inside).
