Concise biogr. note on the famous 17th century mystic Sjeich Jusuf and his Macassarese and Buginese followers on Java, know for his support to Sultan Agung in his fight for the throne of Bantam with his son Sultan Hadji, thus opposing the Dutch East India Company who favored Sultan Hadji. Sjeich Jusuf was captured December 1683, banned to Ceylon and subsequently transported to the Cape of Good Hope in 1693, where Jusuf soon became the centre of a growing Muslim society. Presented to Ph. S. van Ronkel, in honour of his 80th anniversary. Good copy.
