Author, Ass.-minister at Waai (1889-1908), was commissioned by the government to survey the geography and population of Buru. Geographical and topographical data on the area between Kayeli and Samalagi are provided. Information has been included on population numbers, housing, means of subsistence, spirit houses, bride-price and these prices as a relative measure of wealth, boundary conflicts between the districts of Kayeli and Leliali. An account is further given of a trip along the Wai-apu to the inland village of Wabloi. (Polman, Centr. Moluccas, op.cit.).
