Np. Nd. Circa 1890. Four volumes. (7.4 x 4.1 inches). All contain lined paper. The address book has several names and addresses, mostly women and in Glasgow, and the Journal and accounts volumes have just a few pages with entries dated 1892. All four books are bound in full dark purple morocco. Spines with blind stamped ruled lines and floral devices and lettered in gilt. Boards with gilt decorative borders. Marbled endapers. All edges gilt. The Walnut veneered wooden box has three ornamental brass plates to each of the two long side and a brass hinged holder across the top to hold the books in place. This has a lock and the key is still present. The box is lined with morocco and the inner base is spring loaded so that the four volumes pop out when the holder is opened. the gilt to the spines is a little darkened and the brass plates are tarnished but it is a very good and attractive item.
