VG. 20pp, paper a little yellowed, a nice copy. Most of the last page is a catalogue of Peisley's other publications. Disbound , no dustjacket. ¶ Sermon in which Willian Howell [ 1655 - 1714 ] reveals his high-church beliefs. 'In it he declared that it was lawful for the church to demand conformity in indifferent things' [DNB]. The verso of the title is the Imprimatur of William Lancaster, formerly vice-chancellor of Oxford University. Howell was schoolmaster and curate of Ewelme in Oxfordshire for many years and was a popular Devotional writer, having several works in the press. The Sermon is on Collossians II, v15.
