GOUZENKO, Igor - The Fall of a Titan: A Novel. Translated from the Russian by Mervyn Black.

London, Cassell & Company, 1954. Second edition. 8vo. 680pp. in original illustrated dust-wrapper. Dust-wrapper, neatly repaired but lacking piece to spine tail, chipped at folds. Cloth dulled and somewhat dusty-looking (inferior quality due to war economy), small water stain affecting lower edge of front free endpaper. Otherwise in good condition, tight, internally clean. Igor Gouzenko ????? ????????? ??????? (1919-1982) was perhaps better known for his defection, and its subsequent ramifications, from the Soviet Union (in 1945) carrying 109 documents on the USSR's espionage activities in the West. He wrote two books: one covering the story of his defection, and the present volume where the hero is closely based on Maxim Gorky.
