First published in 4to in the same year. Volney (1757-1820), a distinguished French historian and philosopher, spent three years of travelling within Syria and Egypt. His account contains information about the natural history, politics, commerce, customs and manners, etc. Includes an account of the Arabic press at the convent of Mrkhamra with a catalogue of books printed there.
